National Aids Council provincial manager Mr David Nyamurera says World Aids Day commemorations on December 1 should not only be an opportunity to reflect on HIV/AIDS issues, but also on primary healthcare.

This year’s World Aids Day would be commemorated in Mashonaland Central Province at Rujeko High School in Glendale, Mazowe District on December 1.

“It is time to bring to the community a summary of all the interventions and the current picture on HIV and related issues including child sexual abuse, child marriages, adolescence reproductive health issues and non-communicable diseases,” said Dr Nyamurera.

“We will also talk about primary healthcare, including nutrition, physical wellness, water and sanitation.”

Mr Nyamurera said the host district, Mazowe has the highest incidents of HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and child marriages in all of Mashonaland Central’s eight districts.
