Mashonaland East Women’s league leadership has completed a whirlwind tour of rallies across the province, mobilising women to register as voters ahead of the 2018 general election. In an interview with The Herald Mashonaland East women’s league provincial chairwoman Cde Nyarai Tsuura said Zanu-PF would win resoundingly in the province.

“We have been busy over the past months as women in Mashonaland East. When we started the whole exercise we would have around 200 women in attendance, but during the last days we would have at least 5 000 registered women at our rallies.
“Our main goal was to update women in particular, the rural folk, about the leadership in the new dispensation, economic gains achieved, job creation opportunities availed and investment deals penned.

“During these mobilisation rallies we would assist women both the young and old to secure national identity cards and get them registered to vote.

“We estimate the number of women we assisted to register are slightly above 20 000 since we began our rallies and all these are card-carrying party members,” said Cde Tsuura.
During the mobilisation rallies women who participated were handed several projects to work on.
