Weutonga’s fundraising show a success

A fundraising dinner was held at Ingia Ushibe in Greencroft over the weekend to assist Edith WeUtonga’s son Madalitso Mjanana to undergo a heart surgery in India. Madalitso was diagnosed with a severe heart defect three months ago. An estimated US$15 000 is needed for her son to undergo the surgery.

Guests who attended the dinner included stakeholders from ZimRights, Econet, CBZ, Obert Gutu, Selmor Mutukudzi and husband Tendai Manatsa.
WeUtonga managed to raise US$3 200

on the night while before the show Econet, CBZ and Ciffex has pledged US$7 500 in total.
It was an emotional affair as the female bass player auctioned her first and treasured bass guitar which went for US$1 600.

“I feel very honoured by the support as it shows that people really understand our situation and I am happy that there are people out there who really love and support me,” she said.

WeUtonga said she was overwhelmed by the support though they still need assistance as there would be after surgery care.
The dinner was spiced up by performances from Edith WeUtonga, Selmor Mutukudzi and Tendai Manatsa.
