Part of the cast from “Wenera – The Family that matters” Season 2

Local popular soap “Wenera – The Family that Matters”, has bounced back on ZTV television screens with Season 2 in full swing every Mondays. The soap which was created and directed by Eddie Ndhlovu, with Tariro Chingozho as the producer is also set to be aired at DSTV if all goes well with their paper work. Some of the actors include Denzel Burutsa, Jefferson Muserera, Arnold Gara, Conrad Mwanawashe Muriel Tavaziva, Daniel Kiwiti (DJ Speed), Fatima Makungunya and Tinashe Pundo

The actors are housed in Hatfield where they have turned the rented house into a studio set-up.

Season 2 synopsis continues with the saga where a rival diamond company, Shumba, has emerged to compete against Wenera Diamonds. The struggle continues in the Wenera family as they not only fight for the company but their father’s wealthy too.

In an interview, creative director Ndhlovu said he was happy with the progress, adding that the series has become a household name.

“I am happy with how we have grown from season 1. When we started this many did not believe and remember we were fighting or if I can say we were filling the void left by “Studio 263”. My dream is to see “Wenera” continue airing forever,” he said.

He said “Wenera “is about activities that happen in the business world.

“Wenera Diamonds is the Musodza family’s empire. Their company is one of the fastest growing organisations in Zimbabwe. The show explores this family’s unique relationships and their approach to business. This is where all the drama lies. We have engaged more actors as the plot thickens. We now even have a seven year old amongst our cast and this shows how good the Zimbabwean talent is,” he said.

Ndlovu said they have taken a progressive approach considering they want the show to be aired on DSTV.

“We have sent our proposal to DSTV and we are still in talks with them. Remember we need to match the “Generations”, “Muvhango” and “Scandal” style. We are shooting the show in high definition and hopefully with the techno-system era we are. We are matching the standards.

“We now have professional makeup artists on set and wardrobe managers,” he said

The soap is being produced under Talent of Steel, Ndhlovu’s production company. The company plans to bring Season 3 and hopes to have it aired five days a week.
