An envoy from Ras Al Khaimah, an Emirate in the United Arab Emirates, Mr Salem Ali Abdullah Al Alunuami yesterday met Vice President Joice Mujuru at the Zanu-PF Headquarters to follow up on projects the two countries have agreed to venture into.Speaking after the meeting, Mr Al Alunuami emphasised his country’s commitment to working with the Government in various socio-economic sectors.

“We are meeting Her Excellency to follow up on the projects and opportunities that we have explored,” he said.
“We have been in serious discussion with the people of Zimbabwe over the past year to find areas of co-operation. We have identified many areas of cooperation, but it takes time. This is one of the follow up meetings to materialise these projects.”

Mr Al Alunuami, who was in Zimbabwe for a four day visit, said his country was interested in mining, agriculture, education, health and food.

“On education, we are trying to identify the needs of Zimbabwe and we are offering a lot of services since we have a good education system and we are trying to make available the required services,” he said.

“Her Excellency is keen to find resources for agriculture and different kinds of food for the people of Zimbabwe and we are trying to explore that.”

On Wednesday, the envoy paid a courtesy call on President Mugabe where he delivered a special message from the leader of the Ras Al Khaima, Sheik Saud Al Qasimi.

Mr Al Alunuami presented a gift of a painting of his country done 100 years ago to President Mugabe.
Zimbabwe and Ras Al Khaimah relations have grown over the years and mining, health, tourism, industry and commerce, energy and agriculture are the sectors ear-marked for collaboration between the two countries.
