VP jets into Egypt for Health ExCon Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Constantino Chiwenga chats with Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Professor Khaled Abdel Ghaffar on arrival at the Cairo International Airport this afternoon.

Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Constantino Chiwenga has touched down at the Cairo International Airport where he is set to lead Zimbabwe’s participation at the Africa Health ExCon as well as attend to a number of investment scouting meetings.

He was welcomed by Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Professor Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Zimbabwean Ambassador to Egypt Air Marshall (Retired) Shebba Shumbayawonda.

Vice President Chiwenga and his delegation are here having been invited by Egyptian Government through Minister Ghaffar.

The Health ExCon is Africa’s premier medical Expo bringing together leading medical consumables and pharmaceutical manufacturers as well as specialists, medical business players and Governments representatives to brainstorm on how best to better health services on the African continent.

Zimbabwe is participating at this and other international health for as part of an elaborate exercise to tap on international health services best practice benchmarking as well liaise with key international health sector players as it seeks to pace up with its national health development goals.

Speaking to journalists upon his arrival, VP Chiwenga said he is coming to boost not only medical cooperation with Egypt but will also tackle economic and diplomatic errands with a number of investor scouting meetings already line-up for him.

“As you are aware, this is now my second time attending this Africa Health ExCon here in Cairo. It has benefited already and it is going to benefit,” said VP Chiwenga.

“We want to look at other different areas of our relationship between Zimbabwe and Egypt. What is it we can do economically in different fields. We will be discussing these during side meetings.”

Minister Ghaffar said they are honoured that Zimbabwe has accepted their invitation, and have lined Vice President Chiwenga to meet the country’s top leadership.

“We are delighted to have him (VP Chiwenga) attending the Health ExCon. The President (Abdel Fattah El-Sisi) will be delighted to see him during the official opening of the conference.

“He will have a very important meeting with the Prime Minister of Egypt to discuss more about the different ways of cooperation between Egypt and Zimbabwe,” said Minister Ghaffar.
