Police officers in Murambinda are being investigated following a video circulating on social media in which two learners are seen being accused of committing housebreaking and theft.

The two boys, who are in Form 3, are seen standing next to a marked police vehicle, where they are being questioned by officers and members of the public.

They are later ordered to jump on to back of the police pick-up truck.

It is believed that some of the officers took the video while questioning the boys who were wearing school uniforms.

The boys, however, admitted having committed the offences.

Police said the boys were assisting with investigations.

They are out of custody.

National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said investigations on the case were in progress.

Appropriate action would be taken against the officers if they did not conduct their duties properly, he added.

“We confirm receiving such a report and we are investigating the case. We would also want to urge the public not to interfere when police are conducting their duties.

“Meanwhile, if they are any of our police officers who did not perform their duties properly or are being implicated in the circulation of the video, we will also take action against them,” he said.
