CAPS United’s unbeaten run will come under intense scrutiny this afternoon when they face How Mine in a Castle Lager Premiership tie at Luveve. The match is live on SuperSport 9.

Coach Lloyd Chitembwe said his men were ready for the big test.

“The preparations have been good and we have done what we have always been doing,” said Chitembwe.

“It is a very difficult contest and they have proved they are a team that can play football. They are very ambitious in the way they play their game and I am sure it is going to be a very good game of football, especially for the fans, because we anticipate a very open game .

“It will be a tough assignment.

“The approach is the same to try and win the match. I don’t think we will look beyond How Mine and we are putting all our energy on that game.

“For us the focus is on winning our games. If winning our games will make us stay on top, then we can’t choose to lose a match just for the sake of being with the rest of the teams.”

It’s a measure of how things have changed at CAPS United in the past year that their camp is an oasis of stability ahead of this match.

Only last year, the CAPS UNITED players, having arrived in Bulawayo, refused to fulfil the match against How Mine as they protested against their unpaid bonuses and allowances. The resulting fracas saw the players ending up seeking refugee at a police station as fans turned against them.

Chitembwe has made one change to the squad which laboured to a 1-0 victory against Border Strikers, dropping midfielder Archieford Gutu and replaced him with right back Valentine Musarurwa.

Utility player Hardlife Zvirekwi has been pushed to midfield.

Skipper Moses Muchenje is still sidelined with an injury.

How Mine coach Kelvin Kaindu said CAPS United will present a tougher challenge than any game they have played this season.

“Playing CAPS United, we know they are a giant, they are motivated and have been winning week-in-and-week-out.

“But it is good to play such a team and you need to focus. We know what they can do if given room,” said
