The Richard Kevin Rugube and Marjorie Fadziso Mutemererwa (RKR & MFM) Trust, a perennial donor to St Joseph’s House for Boys, yesterday donated foodstuffs and planted  26 lemon trees in the orchard at the House in Belvedere, Harare, to mark the ninth anniversary of Richard Kevin Rugube’s death.

Rugube, the only child to prominent public relations personality, Ms Marjorie Mutemererwa, was electrocuted while trying to take a bath on February 3, 2011.

After his death, Ms Mutemererwa formed the RKR & MFM Trust in 2012, at St George’s College, where he was a student, in honour of her son.

The St Joseph’s House for Boys is a non-governmental organisation that offers education and financial support to orphaned, abandoned, abused, neglected and disadvantaged boys.

Presently, St Joseph’s houses 40 boys aged between nine and 20.

RKR & MFM Trust has been donating to the house since 2015.

Apart from the RKR & MFM donations, the House also received donations from Friends of the Environment (FOTE), a subsidiary of Nyaradzo Holdings, who donated packaging for the house’s tree nursery project.

FOTE representative Mrs Patience Fusire lauded the RKR & MFM Trust for the donation and its continuous work towards the growth of the house.

“We really appreciate your gesture,” said Mrs Fusire.

RKR & MFM Trust chair, Ms Mutemererwa, said after the death of her son, developing the trust to support other children has brought warmth in her life.

“Inasmuch as I am here, I am also getting ministered too,” she said.

“The same passion that I had with my son is the same passion that I am seeing here at the House.”

Ms Mutemererwa said her son had vision and passion for nature, wildlife preservation and the environment.

Mr Philip Matsande, board member for St Joseph’s Home for Boys, thanked Ms Mutemererwa for continuously donating to the house and said the orchard, where the trees would be planted, will be named after Rugube.
