Tropical nights in Jamaica are famous for their exclusive reggae bashes and it is where those who are passionate about reggae get a treat of a lifetime.
This same concept has been brought home in Zimbabwe thanks to Black Spider Sound, a group of selectors and DJs who have introduced the “Reggae and Dancehall Night” at Harare’s newly-opened upper-crust joint, Big Apple.

When Jamaican dancehall/reggae musician Turbulence visited Zimbabwe last year, it was the Black Spider Sound that acted as his host sound in Harare and Mutare and that feat alone is ample proof to how the “Reggae and Dancehall Night” slot is something else not to miss as it offers reggae and dancehall lovers everything they expect.

“The concept of the reggae and dancehall night is to cater for people who really understand and appreciate reggae and dancehall music. We play music with a statement, music with a mission, music for those with a passion for the good things of life,” said Trevor Jaera, also known as Selector Zyan.

Jaera is the manager for Black Spider Sound.

The “Reggae and Dancehall Night” slot is held every Friday and this week it promises to be more exciting with Birthday party to be hosted for a model, Miss G, who will be celebrating her 21st birthday.

“Miss G will be celebrating her 21st birthday and she has decided to do it in style since she is also passionate about reggae music. We are inviting others to come and join in the festivities since reggae music is known for its repute of speaking about the value of life,” Selector Zyan said.

Apart from Selector Zyan, DJ Kenny and MC Quick Stitch will also do what they know best on the turntables. They play a wide range of reggae and dancehall music by various artistes dating back to the likes of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Buju Banton up to the contemporary material.

“We used to play as individuals before deciding to combine forces two years ago. We were the host sound for Turbulence when he came to Zimbabwe and we have worked with the likes of Red Rose Entertainment.

Apart for holding shows around Zimbabwe, we also have a show lined up for Kenya in July,” said Selector Zyan. They also distribute free mixtapes Volume One up to Five.
