A 21-year-old Harare man yesterday appeared in court on allegations of hacking Transerv’s emails before stealing ZiG160 789.

Moses Jimila appeared before Harare provincial magistrate Apollonia Marutya facing fraud charges.

He was released on US$100 bail and advised to return to court on August 29 pending finalisation of investigations.

Prosecutor  Mr Thomas Chanakira told the court that on July 5 this year, Jimila allegedly stole from Transerv through intercepting e-mails messages between the company and Axis Solutions.

It is alleged that Jimila sent an e-mail message to Transerv pretending to be Axis Solutions.

He supplied a Stanbic bank account for Transerv to send money. The complainant transferred ZiG 160 789.09  to the supplied account.

The court heard that the complainant then checked with Axis Solutions and was informed that the account number that was supplied did not belong to them.

Investigations led to the arrest of Jimila who is the owner of Stanbic Bank account number.
