Three car thieves arrested Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi

Police in Harare recently recovered six stolen vehicles after they arrested three suspected car thieves
The suspects were in the habit of stealing parked cars in and around the city. They are Deniver Tinotenda Kazembe (26), Nicholas Kudzaishe Chinyangara (48) and Edwin Mupako (37).

Investigations revealed that the suspects stole the vehicles between May 2024 and August 3, 2024 in Harare.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests.

“On August 8, 2024, detectives from CID Vehicle Theft Squad, Harare arrested Deniver Tinotenda Kazembe at Gazaland Shopping Centre in Highfield, Harare after receiving a tip-off that he was selling a stolen Honda Fit vehicle.

The vehicle was stolen at a nightclub in Kuwadzana, Harare on August 3, 2024.

“The arrest led to the recovery of the vehicle and subsequent arrest of the other two suspects,” he said.

“Further investigations by the detectives led to the recovery of five other stolen vehicles.”

The suspects are facing six cases of theft of motor vehicles.

“They were targeting vehicles parked at parking bays and car parks at various locations in Harare which include nightclubs and shopping centres,” Comm Nyathi said..

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police warns criminals involved in vehicle theft in the country that crack teams are on high alert and will effect arrests on criminal syndicates without fear or favour.”
