Bolt the Trumpet and Mafaro band will be guests at this week’s rhumba night at Food Nest.

The rhumba night takes place every Friday with Diamond Musica hosting several musicians from other genres and tonight the event will be spiced up with some Afro-jazz.

Organisers were on cloud nine last week when Suluman Chimbetu was guest and put up a splendid performance before a full-house.

While many people made their way to Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza for Alick Macheso’s album launch last Friday, Sulu was having a good share of fun with Diamond Musica.

The event was rated the biggest since rhumba nights started last month and Sulu is likely to return to the venue soon due to public demand.

Tonight the rhumba party continues and it seems Diamond Musica is becoming a uniting force between different musicians and Food Nest.

Diamond Musica leader Pitshou Lumiere said the concept is growing beyond their expectations.

“When we started rhumba night we did not anticipate such growth. As you know, rhumba has a section of followers that has been dwindling over the past couple of years, but we will not let the genre die,” said Pitshou.

“Inviting other musicians to the rhumba night has brought in versatility and we are confident that this concept will bring back the popularity of the genre.

“There are people that will always follow rhumba. Those who attended Fally Ipupa’s show at HICC recently witnessed how the genre still has many followers. We want those followers to have a home every week and we are building that home at Food Nest.”
