The hilarious stand up comedian Simba Kakora, famously known as “Simba The Comic King”, is scheduled to perform this coming weekend in Johannesburg at an anti-xenophobia comedy show.

He is the only Zimbabwean amongst seven South African comedians performing including the famous Kagiso Lediga, the host Chris Mapane, Linhle Msimang, Eureka Nkese and Donovan Goliath.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment Kakora said the initiative is a charity event which will raise funds to fend for the people affected by xenophobia in South Africa.

“This is a charity comedy show that will enable us to raise funds in order to give to the ones affected by xenophobia in South Africa,” he said.

The theme of the comedy show is “Anti-Xenophobia.” It will alert people on the actual events behind xenophobia done in a satirical manner by the comedians.

The award winning comic said the show will be used as an instrument to promote oneness in Africa ahead of the Africa day celebrations.

“I believe that this show will help South Africans especially to deal with these xenophobic attacks by promoting Ubuntu all around Africa acknowledging that we are one big family and we need each other.

“My jokes are going to be satirical in nature as a way to encourage the audience to be peaceful loving people that detest violence,” he said.

Growing up Simba was a big fan of Michael Jackson and when the King of Pop died, he was overwhelmed and decided to vent that through this rare art-form, by impersonating Michael Jackson’s singing and dancing.

Thus giving birth to Simuka Comedy in which he co-founded with Victor Mpofu popularly known as “Doc Vikela” and it has been the vehicle that is responsible for the phenomenal growth of the stand up comedy industry in Zimbabwe.

He is a proud winner of the “Most Outstanding Comedian Of The Year” at The National arts Merit Awards (NAMA) 2014
