A five-wicket haul by Wishnenzy Chapfombo helped to bring about a straightforward six-wicket victory for Takashinga Patriots 2 over Rimuka in a National Premier League (NPL) match at Takashinga on Wednesday. 

He cut through the middle order of Rimuka, who batted first, and the only man able to withstand him for long was their captain, Tashinga Musekiwa, who scored 44 off 57 balls. 

Chapfombo took the final wicket with his last possible ball to finish with five wickets for 43 runs in nine overs.

Takashinga did not begin too strongly, losing their first three wickets for 68 runs, but their captain, Knowledge Kaia, with 39 not out, and Tinotenda Maposa (30 off 17 balls) made sure of victory. 

At Kwekwe Sports Club, fifties from Innocent Kaia and Timycen Maruma were prominent as Takashinga Patriots 1 completed a seven-wicket victory over Amakhosi. 

Amakhosi successfully resisted the Takashinga bowlers to the extent that they lost only five wickets in scoring 182 for five wickets, but they were so cautious that they failed to set their opponents a challenging target.

They lost their first four wickets for 70 runs, but Adrian Mupembe (50 off 87 balls) and Raymond Kasimo (60 not out off 66) played steadily to set what was no more than a presentable total.

Munashe Chipara took three wickets for 27 runs in seven overs. 

When Takashinga batted, Joylord Gumbie began with 42 off 46 balls, and then Kaia (59 off 57) and Maruma (52 not out off 38) added 89 for the third wicket so that they won with almost 19 overs in hand. 

At Old Hararians Sports Club, three batters scored fifties and Phase Mukabeta took five wickets for 25 runs as Gladiators trounced a thoroughly disheartened Knights team by 239 runs.
