A Kwekwe man died after he received instant justice from members of the public for stealing a car radio, a speaker and a power bank.

The body of Joseph Zuze Kadozo (21) was reportedly discovered on Friday last week a few metres from his house in Mbizo Section 12.

Officer Commanding Crime and Operations Kwekwe District Superintendent Sydney Goreraza confirmed Kadozo’s death and the arrest of three suspects in connection with the crime.

“I can confirm the death of a 21-year-old male adult after he was beaten up by members of the public for theft,” he said. “The now deceased reportedly stole property, including a car radio, a speaker and a power bank. The property has since been recovered.”

Supt Goreraza said two suspects were picked up and were assisting police with investigations.

“Investigations into the matter are yet to be completed, but we have three suspects in our custody who are assisting police with investigations,” he said. “These suspects will help to finalise the case, it will speed up the investigations and will be completed with the speed it requires.”

Supt Goreraza said Kadozo’s body was ferried to Kwekwe General Hospital where it awaits a post-mortem.

Meanwhile, police in Silobela have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly attacked a 23-year-old rival suitor in a suspected love triangle, writes Courtney Matende.

Acting Midlands provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende said Forward Ntini of Village 16, Chief Ntabeni in Zhombe, allegedly went to Siziva tuckshop at Wozoli Business Centre in Silobela intending to see his 21-year-old girlfriend.

“Upon arrival, it is alleged that Ntini forced the door open and found his girlfriend in the company of another man,” she said. “He armed himself with a machete which he took from his jacket and allegedly struck the complainant all over his body causing him to sustain serious injuries.

“After committing the offence, the suspect ran away.”

Asst Insp Mukwende appealed to members of the public who might have information that may lead to the arrest of Ntini to make a report to any police station and use the suggestion boxes dotted around the country.

“Once again, the police are appealing to members of the public to solve their disputes amicably by engaging a third party to manage their issues,” she said.
