A HARARE woman told the Civil Courts yesterday that her son has assaulted her several times following a dispute over ownership of her late husband’s house, and that she regarded these assaults as attempts to kill her.

Rungano Tungadza alleges that Brighton once grabbed her by the neck, suffocating her and she overpowered him.

Tungadza, who was seeking a protection order against Brighton, told magistrate Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa that he no longer respects her and claims that the house belongs to him following his father’s death.

“Brighton is my son and he wrestled me on different occasions in a bid to kill me and I had to scream for help,” she said.

“He also steals my property for resale and hurls insults at me saying he inherited our house after his father died. He does not respect me as his mother and he vows to kill me,” Tungadza said.

Mrs Gofa gave a default judgment and ordered Brighton to stop assaulting, insulting and threatening his mother in any way.
