Motswana music and dance star Naledi Naisara, affectionately known as Slizer in the showbiz circles, has promised top class performances when she visits the country for two special gigs slated for July 29 and 30 in Beitbridge and Zvishavane respectively. Courtesy of Gwenyambira Sounds and promotions, Slizer will be supported by Andy Muridzo and nimble-footed dancer and sungura singer Franco ‘Slomo’ Dhaka.

Slizer will also be taking the opportunity to market her latest DVD, “Bazooka”. Event coordinator Gift Petro said all is in place for the tour. “All is set now for this tour and Slizer’s return to the country is due to public demand,” said Petro.

“She is going to be in the country on Thursday next week and perform at Pagomba Café in Beitbridge before she visits Old Maglass Hall in Zvishavane for another show. Slizer will be in the country for three days and departs on August 1.

“Every year, Slizer comes into the country to do shows and this one was made possible due to demand since it has been almost three years since she last performed in Beitbridge while in Zvishavane she had one show long back,” he said.

Petro said Slizer’s SA fans from Messina will cross into the country for the once-off show. In an interview Slizer confirmed the shows and was happy to be visiting again. “I will be coming with a new pattern of six dancing queens and as usual, I am going to rock Zimbabwe especially with the ‘Bazooka’ song.

“I need people to bring their ‘bazookas’ to the show because I will be having mine. One more thing, my Shona has improved,” she chuckled. Andy Muridzo’s manager, Simba Muridzo also looks forward to the show and says they are prepared.

“It is good for us to be part of Slizer’s tour and being selected to perform alongside an international artiste means things are heading in a positive direction. We are promising a polished act with our song ‘Derira’, which is proving to be the crowd’s favourite.

“Both old and new tracks will be played at the shows,” he said. Dhaka also promised a special treat to his fans. “I am promising a show of a lifetime and during my act I will be playing latest songs called ‘Chiringenzira’ and ‘Muvengi-muvengi’ and introducing a new dance called ‘Skola’,” he said.
