IN-FORM Dynamos goalkeeper Simba Chinani has promised a polished act in his first appearance in the famous Harare derby when his team clash against CAPS United in a rescheduled Premiership tie at Rufaro on Sunday.

Chinani, who has been one of the stand out players for the misfiring Dynamos outfit, regularly limiting the damage for the relegation-haunted giants is the talk of the town after he guided DeMbare to the Chibuku Super Cup after saving two penalties in the lottery against Herentals at the same venue last weekend.

And with the team shifting their attention to the derby clash against the Green Machine, Chinani hopes to take his Chibuku Super Cup form to the league. Dynamos are reeling in the drop zone on 15th place with 31 points but have a chance to climb up to 11th should they win their outstanding fixture against Makepekepe on Sunday.

“Obviously I am relishing playing in my first derby if I am selected to play against CAPS United on Sunday,” said Chinani.

“The match will most predictably be very tough. Though I have never tasted how it feels to be involved in these matches, I am very sure the heat will be on in the pitch.

“Both teams have everything to play for not just the positions on the log.

“We have a very big chance to move away from the relegation zone where we are at the moment if we manage to collect the maximum points on Sunday.

“I am sure CAPS United will also move closer to the top four if they prevail on Sunday,” Chinani said.

Whilst Dynamos are fighting for dear lives, CAPS United are gunning for a top-four finish as a win will take them to within a point of fourth-placed Triangle.

Chinani said the derby will have a lot at stake besides the points.

“It’s an interesting fixture which besides these positional ambitions will also be about the bragging rights.

“I am sure even if it wasn’t a league encounter, we would still be saying we can’t be beaten by CAPS United and they would also be saying the same.

“The fact that it’s a league match with both of us having all to play for makes it even more interesting.

“CAPS United beat us in the first leg and at Dynamos you are naturally motivated to avoid a whitewash against our fiercest rivals.

“CAPS United are apparently playing better football than Dynamos but it is games against them which we will be out to prove a point.”

The youthful goalkeeper said spirits are high in the DeMbare camp following their exploits in the Chibuku Super Cup and is hopeful they will do well on Sunday.

“The good thing is we are coming from a win in the Chibuku Super Cup. There is renewed optimism within our camp, the players have the hunger to succeed and we can’t look any further than the game against CAPS United. “We need to secure our own survival without having to expect other results to go your way.

“We are down there on the log but if we win our outstanding fixture against CAPS United, then we know we won’t have to pray for other matches to produce favourable results.

“As we speak, we have our own destiny in our hands. Look, we are 15th on the table with a game in hand, if we win that game in hand on Sunday, we will climb four or five places up. That shows our survival won’t depend on other forces but on our own efforts.

“What we should do to lay our survival foundation is beat CAPS United on Sunday,” said Chinani.
