SHABANIE MINE are targeting ZIFA Central Region Division One leading goalscorer Nicole Mtatiwa.

They want him to replace Premiership top marksman David Temwanjira who left to join ZPC Kariba early this month.

Temwanjira had scored nine goals from 17 matches at the Zvishavane side.

And they have set their sights on getting Mtatiwa (18) who has scored nine times in 10 matches in the second-tier league for Lesaffre FC.

The forward was introduced to professional football last year by coach Peter Manoti after he scored 19 goals in the third-tier.

“Some members of our technical team scouted Nicole and they were really impressed by his talent,” said Shabanie Mine chairman Tavaziva Mhloro.

“We want him to join the team and we are now working on it now and we want the player on an initial six-month loan deal to help us in the second half of the season.

“We are waiting to hear what Lesaffre will say regarding the player, but we desperately need reinforcements in the team.”

Lesaffre FC secretary-general, Oscar Chinagana, said they have been overwhelmed by inquiries on the availability of the gunslinger.

“Many clubs have requested to have the player, but as a club we are yet to make a decision regarding his future,” he said.

“Remember he is still a very young boy and we would want people who can take good care of the boy.

“We are yet to make a decision as a club, but if he goes we want him to go to a club where he will be given game time.”
