Sad moment haunts writing community

Last month has dark memories of death mainly caused by road accidents, crime, and infernos.

In the writing community, a sad moment that still haunts it is the passing of an emerging writer, Prudence Aida Madzadzavara, who had just launched her debut motivational book titled “Becoming The Best Version of You” (2018, Media Essentials).

The effort the late author made to make sure the book lands in the Bookshelf revealed a woman on a mission to change millions of lives via her word on paper. Although she failed to make it on the day she was supposed to give me a copy of her book, she sent someone.

And how deeply morbid Bookshelf’s writing studio turned when a few weeks later news of Madzadzavara’s death spread all over.

Sitting there behind my book—littered desk, looking at the fresh book whose author is no more was just unbearable. The taxi-driving murderers had taken her life in the evening on her way from work, so the reports said.

And her book lay there, like a comforter, yet painful comforter. Though they thought they had killed her, she did not die, for we can still see and hear her talking in “Becoming The Best Version of You”.

It is during this festive season that many people start planning for next year and usually self—development takes priority over all other goals set for the New Year. For instance, bad habits are quit and visions are renewed.
