About 174 students from the Shipping and Forwarding Agents Association of Zimbabwe (SFAAZ) received certificates after completing various diploma courses.

The graduates completed diploma programmes in customs legislation and freight forwarding.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony in Harare today, SFAAZ chief executive officer Mr Washington Dube expressed confidence in the new graduates’ potential to combat corruption.

“We teach and equip them with the necessary tools to clear products efficiently as there is a lot of money involved and plenty of temptation,” he said.

“Our curriculum also emphasises professionalism and morality in the industry.”

SFAAZ vice chairperson Mr Assan Mutembo urged the graduates to execute their duties diligently.

“We hope these graduates will uphold professionalism and integrity at border posts, combating illegal trade practices,” he said.

“By embracing zero corruption, we can enhance economic development by 2030.”

The overall best student, Mrs Nyasha Cleopatra said she was prepared for the job given the training she had received.

“With this course, I am equipped to pursue job opportunities at border posts,” she said.

“I will adhere to all statutory law instruments governing trade, enabling me to distinguish between unlawful and legal trade practices.”
