ORLANDO Pirates and two other South Africa Premiership football clubs have entered the race to sign highly sought-after Chicken Inn striker Clive Augusto. Augusto put South African clubs on high alert after scoring an incredible 11 goals in 12 matches so far in his maiden season at the Gamecocks.

Pirates are in the market for a reliable goal-getter after making inquiries for Zambian Mwape Musonda and Augusto.

Cape Town City are also interested in the striker while Maritzburg United have officially written to Chicken Inn requesting for his services.

The 24-year-old’s handlers confirmed interest in the highly-rated striker by a number of South African teams.

“Yes, it is true, actually three clubs have expressed interests in him that is Maritzburg, Pirates and Cape Town City,” said Kudakwashe Chidemo of Avalanche Agency.

“Maritzburg have officially started negotiations with his parent club Chicken Inn, the other two clubs are also interested.

“Clive is contracted to Chicken Inn and I think it is just proper and professional to contact his club for more details, what I can only say is that we are negotiating with those teams,” said Chidemo.

The Herald has seen the letter written to Chicken Inn dated June 20 copied to Tavengwa Hara and Lifa Ncube, written by the club’s administration manager, Hlubi Msimang.

Chicken Inn have been a good breeding ground for players harbouring intentions of playing beyond the country’s borders.

Since 2015 after winning the title, they have exported more than eight players abroad as well as their coaches Joey Antipas and Prince Matore who had a brief stint Down South.
