Runde Rural District Council (RDC) will exhibit for the first time at this year’s edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo.

The local authority says it has many developmental projects to showcase, particularly those bankrolled through its Community Share Ownership Scheme.

In an interview yesterday, Runde RDC chief executive officer Mr Gorden Moyo said this year’s edition of ZITF gives them an opportunity to showcase projects in their area.

“We are very excited at our maiden appearance at the ZITF. We have many projects, some nearer completion, which we feel need to be showcased.

We would also want to learn from other local authorities that will be exhibiting there so that we also improve ourselves,” said Mr Moyo.

He said the platform will also help them lure potential suitors for the local authority’s planned projects.

“As a council, we are hoping to expand and improve in housing, road infrastructure and other services as we seek investment partners. We are also investing in the development of residential properties, business centres and water provision,” he said.

Runde, he said, will be riding on President Mnangagwa’s call for business to invest in Zimbabwe.

“On our maiden appearance, we will be riding on the national vision of Government, which has emphasised that Zimbabwe is open for business,” he said.

ZITF will this year run from April 24 to April 28 April under the theme “Sustainable Industrial Development – Inclusive, Competitive, Collaborative”.

It will be officially opened by President Mnangagwa.
