Msasa Rotary Club last week handed over textbooks worth thousands of dollars to Murambinda Mission Hospital in Buhera.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Msasa Rotary Club director Mr Max Ngirandi said the organisation had a role to play in assisting health facilities in communities such as Buhera District.

“I am delighted to say that our visit here in Murambinda is in pursuit of highlighted focus areas as we channel our donations towards entities that we believe have high degree of responsibility and it is our fervent hope that this donation will be put to good use by the health institution,” he said.

District health services administrator Mrs Elizabeth Chipanga commended the Rotary Club, saying the move will go a long way in uplifting health service delivery at the institution through skills and knowledge contained in the donated books.

“We welcome the donation and what amazes us is that the Rotary Club visited us here in a remote area out of all hospital institutions across the country,” she said.

“Because of what they have done today, we are really grateful.”

Senior tutor in the nursing department at the institution, Ms Nzwisisai Manzuru said relevant knowledge which students were to acquire from the donated books will help in reducing deaths and child mortality at the institution.

“We want to thank the Rotary Club for this huge donation they have given to us,” he said.

“The knowledge our students will get from these books will surely help reduce deaths and birth mortality.

“We still need more resource materials for the students so that they can be better equipped to identify and deal with maternal health problems.

“The school is doing very well in producing highly qualified nurses who leave the school with great knowledge on how to react in the face of health problems.”
