Revellers spoilt for choice this weekend Ada Ehi

The weekend is the time where everyone should relax and enjoy.

It is the start and the path by which people recharge themselves. They recharge so that they get ready for the upcoming week.

Now with a lot of events happening this weekend, revellers are spoilt for a choice but they should be very careful considering now there is a cholera outbreak too.

Safety and precaution first. Be merry but don’t forget about the outbreak.

This week around different arts promoters have managed to accommodate everyone from hip-hop, gospel, Zimdancehall and afro fusion among others.

As this is the last week of school holidays, besides having fun some will be busy preparing for schools opening, henceforth most shops will close late for last minute shopping.

Our Arts section crew conducted a survey on some of the major events taking place across the country.

Nigerian gospel 

singer Ada Ehi ready for show

Nigerian gospel singer Ada Ogochukwu Ehi, affectionately known by her stage name Ada, arrived yesterday afternoon ahead of show tomorrow at Harare International Conference Centre.

The show will see some of the top local gospel artistes sharing the stage with Ada Ehi.

These include Minister Michael Mahendere, Janet Manyowa, Everton Mlalazi, Ellard and Sharon Cherayi and Nyasha Mutonhori.

Speaking at the arrival, Ada Ehi known for his powerful hit song “I testify”, expressed her excitement.

She said that the concert means a lot to her and has been waiting for the right time to come to Zimbabwe.

“I am truly honoured and humbled to be here in Zimbabwe, looking forward to ministering through my music and spreading the message of Jesus. It is a great opportunity to be here,” she said.

The show is being hosted by Gateway Stream Music and radio personality Yvonne Tivatye will be the master of ceremony.

Sungura, Zimdancehall and horses at Castle Tankard

All is set for the Castle Tankard show set for tomorrow at Borrowdale Racecourse where sungura maestro Alick Macheso is sharing the stage with dancehall star Enzo Ishall.

The event will also see popular emcee Etherton Benne, DJ Naida, Andile Brown and DJ Rush among other acts taking part.

With both artistes returning from high-profile events, their inclusion at the gig has raised the appeal of the event.

“Let’s meet at the Borrowdale Racecourse this Saturday, band revanhu rinenge riri tii, vanhu vacho ndimi.

“As always, get ready to feel the vibration from the Extrabasso,” said Macheso’s handler Tich Makahamadze.

For dancehall star, Enzo Ishall who has announced the arrival of his new single “Handidi”, he is expected to exclusively perform the song at the Castle Tankard stage.

The musician is expected to pick up from his energetic performance from Bulawayo and the just-ended Victoria Falls Carnival.

He says he is still learning his ropes.

“Bulawayo was magical, Victoria Falls was a learning curve and the Castle Tankard, a familiar territory, will be fireworks.

“All the dancehall lovers get ready,” said Enzo.

Fifteen horses have been confirmed for the prestigious horse race where organisers, Delta Beverages, have maintained the US$50 000 cash prize.

“All is set for the biggest horse racing show of our time, we are inviting the whole country and look forward to an unforgettable day.

“Cold and refreshing beer and braai will be served to all our loyal consumers, punters and horse racing enthusiasts,” said Delta Corporation general manager corporate affairs, Patricia Murambinda.

Last year, the race was won by four-year-old True Beauty.

Only Him, also a four-year-old, came second, followed by Holy Land and Wantage.

Gwevedzi to perform at Theatre in the Park

Popular Afro-acoustic group Gwevedzi have announced that tonight they will be performing at Theatre in the Park.

Famed for their hit “Ndinouya”, the group has promised fireworks.

In an interview, the spokesperson for the band, Gladmore Bvuta, said:

“The band is extremely honoured and prepared to be igniting fireworks on Friday.”

Passmore Ndlovu, the Rooftop Promotions programmes and communications officer, said it was all systems go.

“Tickets for all the shows are already on sale at Theatre in the Park.

“We are ready for this particular show,” he said.

Gwevedzi was formed in 2016 in Harare.

Gwevedzi is a Shona name given to a suitor, in a courtship between a young lady and a young man, to strengthen the love between the two.

The band consists of four members.

All set for Braai Out

Organisers of the much hyped bands versus djs edition dubbed Braai Out zw which will be headlined by the award winning Zimdancehall musician Winky D, have confirmed that all is set for the event tomorrow, at Kingfisher Park, Harare.

This is the first time that Hararians will witness an event of this magnitude and the organisers say they can’t wait as they will also be learning new experiences.

The line-up include Selmor Mtukudzi, Takura, Uncle Epatan, Cello Culture, Judgement Yard, Ace Frvr, Transit Crew, Raydizz Merciless Zim, Dj Hush and Host AC Bima .

Braai Out_zw Events founder Nigel Chinovhiringa said all artistes, bands and DJs on have confirmed their participation at the event and encouraged all the revellers to come in their numbers and have a good time.

“We are very excited about this event as it is a first of its kind; it has never been done before. We can’t wait for our fans to come and enjoy the day with some of the biggest acts in Zimbabwe. I can confirm that all our artistes on the line-up, bands and DJs are ready for this big event,” he said.
