BUENOS AIRES. — A soccer referee in Argentina was shot three times and killed after issuing a player a red card.

According to police, 48-year-old Cesar Flores was shot in the head, neck and chest by a player he ejected from a match.

The unnamed player also left 25-year-old Walter Zarate wounded with a gunshot, according to Metro.

“It all happened during the match,” said a police spokesman. “We don’t know what happened with the referee but the player was angry and went to get his gun and killed him.”

Police are in a manhunt attempting to track down the alleged killer. — AFP.
