A Gokwe man was on Tuesday arraigned before a Gweru magistrate for allegedly raping his 13-year-old daughter.

The man was not asked to plead when he appeared before Gweru regional magistrate, Mrs Pathekile Msipa.
He was remanded in custody to September 9 for trial.
Prosecuting, Mr Michael Ndoro told the court that on July 14 this year at around 6:30pm, the man went to the kitchen where his daughter and his three-year-old son were sitting.

The court heard he grabbed his daughter by the waist and pushed her to the ground.
He went then raped her in the presence of his son.

The girl cried for help, but there was no immediate response.
Mr Ndoro said the victim continued to cry after her ordeal until a neighbour came to inquire.
The neighbour then alerted the police who investigated the matter, leading to the father’s arrest.
