THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League will resume next weekend, following the postponement of the COSAFA Cup, which was scheduled for Durban, South Africa

Local Premiership action took a break on June 1, to allow the national team to fulfil two World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and South Africa, as well as the COSAFA tournament, which was scheduled to begin on June 14.

However, following the rescheduling of the regional tourney, the PSL has decided to resume action on June 15.

Fourteen rounds had been played by the time the league announced the break.

“This serves to advise that, following the postponement of the 2024 COSAFA tournament, the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches will now resume on Saturday 15 June 2024.

“An updated fixture schedule will be circulated soon,” wrote Kudzai Bare, PSL communications and media liaison officer.

Match Day 15 has some mouth-watering fixtures, including a clash between defending champions Ngezi Platinum Stars and former champions Chicken Inn at Baobab.

Dynamos, whose coach Genesis Mangombe, was under fire when the league took a break, will host ZPC Kariba while Highlanders have a date against Bikita Minerals at Barbourfields.

Recently appointed TelOne coach, Herbert “Jompano” Maruwa, welcomes Lloyd Chitembwe and his CAPS United at Bata in Gweru while Rodwell Dhlakama returns to Chisumbanje when Hwange date his former paymasters GreenFuel.

Log leaders Manica Diamonds will be away to Yadah at Heart Stadium.

The Gem Boys top the log with 29 points, one ahead of FC Platinum who have a tricky away fixture at Bulawayo Chiefs.

Simba Bhora and Highlanders complete the top four, while DeMbare are 10 points off the top spot.

TelOne, Chegutu Pirates, Arenel Movers, and Hwange complete the bottom four.

Hwange have one win in 14 matches and anchors the 18-team log with eight points out of a possible 42.
