Infrastructural Development will accelerate Marondera’s growth towards being a clean city and a development hub, as well as
uplifting the face of Mashonaland East, Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Senator Apollonia
Munzverengwi has said.
She said this while officially opening the Proton Bakers building at the Marondera Show Grounds today.
The building houses the company’s offices and a satellite shop.
“Today we are gathered here to celebrate and witness the achievements made by Proton Bakers in our province,” he said.
“As a province, we greatly embrace the genuine partnerships and goodwill demonstrated by Proton Bakers.
“It is clear that Proton Bakers is working in tandem to the dictates of the vision 2030 as espoused by President Mnangagwa. By
venturing into the construction of such a magnificent showpiece, Proton Bakers have taken the first step towards turning the
Marondera Showground into a major hub of development in Marondera.”
She urged other businesses such as Surrey Abattoir to imitate Proton Bakers.
“This will also play a significant role in decongesting the town’s Central Business District services and return Marondera to
being one of the vibrant and smartest cities in Zimbabwe,” she said.
“It is my wish that the Mashonaland East Show Society continues on this trajectory of inviting more investors to come and
build structures in the province.
“This will also assist us in our effort to seek exchange programmes with neighboring countries. Let me hasten to say that
infrastructural development will significantly uplift the face of our province.”
She said it was important to note that the facility will be operational throughout the year, thereby serving residents in the
western side of the town.
