AFTER successfully impressing during some trials for Europe early this year Blessed Maposa’s dream came true after he had a three-week trial stint with Atletico and Real Madrid junior sides in Spain.

Maposa who returned home recently is over the moon as he awaits his final assessment results from the clubs.

The name Maposa is not someone Zimbabwean football knows much but, as a Prince Edward product the name will ring a bell soon.

The 17-year-old managed to captain Prince Edward, and is expected to take the path which some former Prince Edward footballers took to become professionals in the sport.

After his successful trial stint in Spain where he managed to play in front of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid scouts he is expected to make the grade when his final assessment comes out.

Prince Edward has in the past managed to produce players who went on to make a mark like Tinotenda Kadewere, Tatenda Mukuruva and most recently Bill Antonio.

As a form one student back in 2019 he mesmerised thousands of football fans who flocked to Brebner High School after he was given a chance to travel to Bloemfontein, South Africa.

Maposa went on to get an opportunity to impress visiting Spanish coaches when he together with a Tanzanian player were the only two African players granted a lifetime opportunity to train at Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid academies.

The midfielder has not given up on his dream of becoming a professional footballer.

“I want to be a soccer player and I want to play in Europe and having visited Spain recently I think I have learnt a lot. The standards are high and it improved me on the way I took soccer as a profession,” said Maposa.
