President Ramkalawan sends a congratulatory message to incoming and outgoing German Chancellor

President Ramkalawan sent a message of congratulations to H.E Mr. Olaf Scholz on the occasion of his appointment as the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. He also congratulated the outgoing German Chancellor, H.E Dr. Angel Merkel on the end of her term.

In his first message addressed to Mr. Scholz, President Ramkalawan stated: “Seychelles and the Federal Republic of Germany share a long history of friendship and we attach great importance to the cooperation between our two countries.” President Ramkalawan also used this occasion to reaffirm the government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Seychelles and Germany.

In his message to Dr. Merkel, President Ramkalawan expressed profound gratitude and sincere appreciation on behalf of the people and government of Seychelles for the support that the German government has extended to Seychelles during her tenure. He went on to congratulate Dr. Merkel on her remarkable work during the sixteen years in office, noting that she had discharged her responsibilities with tenacity, courage, and resilience and he praised Her Excellency for never compromising her principles. “Our relations are on a strong footing, and I am confident that they will continue to grow in the future,” the President said. President Ramkalawan concluded his message by pledging his full support to Dr. Angela Merkel’s successor, Mr. Olaf Scholz.

This year marks the 44th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Seychelles and the Federal Republic of Germany.
