The private sector should continue partnering the Second Republic in developing the country through Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), Zimbuild Property Investment chief executive officer Dr Tinashe Manzungu has said.
Dr Manzungu said this during the Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency (ZIDA)’s Stakeholder Forum on Tuesday.

He said PPPs can play a huge role in roads construction and rehabilitation.

“The road network that we have in the country may be close to 80 000 kilometres,” he said.

“We have so far managed to do about 200km in Harare, which is very little in terms of investment.

“Road construction is one key area for people in the private sector to come on board and assist.

“One such an example of a PPP is the Bulawayo-Gwanda road that is coming up.

According to ZIDA, most notable PPPs include the Thuli-Moswa Dam and the Harare Nyamapanda highway, which have a combined investment value of over US$1 billion and are set to take off soon.

Cabinet outlined a policy framework to guide private sector participation in infrastructure development to underpin economic growth.
