The Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All of Africa, Theodoros II, has pledged to market Zimbabwe as a safe investment destination. The Patriarch said this while speaking through an interpreter following his meeting with President Mnangagwa at his Munhumutapa Offices yesterday.

He also congratulated the President on his election on July 30.
“Firstly, we met the President and wanted to say congratulations on his election as the President of Zimbabwe,” he said.

“Also today (yesterday) is a very special day for me because 14 years ago when I was the Archbishop of Zimbabwe, I was elected the Head of the Orthodox Church in Africa and Alexandria. So, it is a very special day to have the meeting with the President.”

Patriarch Theodoros II said Zimbabwe was a beautiful country.
“Everywhere I go and they ask which is the most beautiful country in the world, I say Zimbabwe,” he said.

“The people, the country, all are beautiful. I wish the President good luck because he has to work very hard for Zimbabwe to recover.

“Tomorrow (today) I will have to go back to Europe and in every meeting I will attend in Europe I will ask the people to come and invest in Zimbabwe. The people of Zimbabwe love their country and they are all proud of the country and I will be the ambassador for this country because I was the Archbishop for this country.”

Zimbabwe has embarked on a drive to attract investors after the recently held elections were endorsed locally and globally.
