Sungura musician Peter Moyo and rising gospel musician, Tinashe Magacha have promised fireworks during their act at Zora musician Leonard Zhakata’s 11-track album launch.
The 21st album for Zhakata will be released at the Harare International Conference Centre on July 8 2016.
Moyo and Magacha will spice up the event that is also going to see Sungura Ace, Alick Macheso exchanging notes with Dendera musician Suluman Chimbetu.
The musicians, who both highly regard Zhakata, are humbled by their invitation to the event and have promised polished performances.
“We see Zhakata as our father in the music industry as he worked with Tongai,” said Peter Moyo through his manager Sukol Dube.
“We have had a harmonious working relationship with him as we always support each other as musicians. We feel very honoured to be invited to celebrate the release of his 21st album.”
Moyo added that the Utakataka outfit will be introducing a new dance routine on the day.
“We promise fireworks from Utakataka. We will be introducing a new dance called Bata Bhora which fans will certainly enjoy.”
Magacha is equally fired up and raring to give his best shot.
“Bishop Zhakata is more than a mentor to me. He is an inspiration, and I find it a privilege and honour to be part of this big album release concert sharing stage with a great musician. Bishop Zhakata has managed to inspire and motivate the whole nation through the powerful messages conveyed through his music.
“I personally appreciate how he has managed to touch and change the lives of many through his amazing gift,” said Magacha, who is currently riding high with his song “Mvura Ngainaye” that has topped a number of gospel charts on local radio stations.
“I encourage Zimbabweans to come in their thousands and watch us perform ‘Mvura Ngainaye’. This is a show worth attending,” added Magacha.
Zhakata’s 21 album follows his musical project “Zvangu Zvaita” released in December 2013 which scooped the first and second prizes in the Radio Zimbabwe Coca-Cola 2014 Annual Top 50 Hits with songs “Dhonza Makomborero” and “Dollar Boy” respectively.
It remains to be seen if the new album, which has not yet been titled, will be similarly received.
