Utakataka Express front man Peter Moyo was yesterday morning involved in a car accident on his way from Masvingo to Beitbridge for a show. His BMW veered off the road and hit a tree when he tried to avoid an oncoming vehicle that had encroached into his lane.

Moyo who sustained minor injuries was travelling together with some of his band members who also sustained some injuries and were all ferried to Beitbridge Hospital.

In an interview soon after being discharged from the hospital, the musician said he was coming from a show in Masvingo and was heading for Beitbridge where he was supposed to perform on New Years Eve.

“I had a show yesterday night (Wednesday) in Masvingo and was supposed to be performing in Beitbridge today, (yesterday) that is where we were heading to when the accident occurred,” he said.

“I was trying to avoid a car which came into my lane and ended up hitting a tree, my car is damaged and I don’t think it will be on the road again,” he said.

He said he was feeling much better after being discharged but was worried about his band members who were still hospitalised.

“I’m now feeling better. I was taken to hospital where I got some medication after some x-rays. I sustained some injuries but it was not serious and I was given some pills to recover,” he said.

Commenting on the Beitbridge show, Peter said he was not sure if the show would go on or not since some of his band members were still hospitalised by the time of going to print.

“I don’t know if we can still make it to today’s show since Willow, Servy and Bismark are still in hospital and at the same time it’s difficult for me to conclude that we have cancelled the show since I have not communicated with the promoters of the show yet,” he said.

This is not the first time that the young musician has been involved in an accident.

He was involved in another accident which was reportedly to have occurred in Hillside, Harare, when his Jeep Cherokee rammed into another vehicle.
