“And the Lord said, ‘Hear what the unrighteous judge said; now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night and will He delay long over them? I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?’”

A dear lady once wrote to tell me about how she felt very disappointed with God; she had prayed for her sister — who had been diagnosed with a hole in her heart — to be healed, but she still passed on.

“We did everything we knew to do, but she died,” she wrote. It’s a painful experience, no doubt and I empathised with her. But there’s a line in her letter that got my attention, which I’ve heard many Christians use in such circumstances: “We did everything we knew to do.”

But there’s a big difference between doing what you know to do and doing what you’re supposed to do according to God’s Word.

A lot of people just don’t know what to do when trouble strikes and without that knowledge, the outcome is almost certainly unfavourable.

There’s always a word from God for every situation and He’s always ready to answer our prayers, the problem is always on our receiving end. That’s why He’s given us His Word and we teach it so people can know what to do before the day of crisis comes.

Faith never ends with disappointment. But if faith is weak or small, then it’ll take a longer time to work and for that reason, many give up before the result they desire shows up. The Bible says, when the edge of a machete is blunt, you must apply more force (Ecclesiastes 10:10).

Get more of the Word of faith into you, so you won’t be unprepared in the day of trouble.
