TWO men appeared in court on Thursday for allegedly seriously assaulting and stabbing a reveller at a night club in Marondera following a misunderstanding over a snooker game.

Arnold Mafidi (21) and Tafadzwa Jongoni (25) appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe facing attempted murder charges.

Mr Mahwe remanded the pair in custody to April 1. He advised them to apply for bail at the High Court.

Prosecutor Mr Peter Kachirika alleged that on Sunday, March 6, the pair was revelling at Mapondera Shopping Centre where it is alleged that the complainant was playing snooker when Mafidi and Jongoni approached him.

They took away snooker balls and a misunderstanding ensued.

It is alleged that Mafidi and Jongoni started assaulting the complainant before stabbing him with a knife twice, once in the back and on the chest. The complainant was rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital where he is still hospitalised.

Mafidi and Jongoni were identified and arrested on Tuesday.
