Pair on the run after stealing 15 cattle

A warrant of arrest has been issued against two suspected cattle rustlers who stole 15 cattle and tried to sell them to an abattoir in Chegutu, writes Blessings Chidhakwa.

The warrant was issued by Kadoma magistrate Mr Takudzwa Gwazemba after the two failed to turn up for their trial.
The duo was remanded out of custody when they appeared before Kadoma magistrate Ms Ruvimbo Murandu two weeks ago.
Police have since launched a manhunt for them.

Public prosecutor Mrs Gracious Chaminuka told the court that on March 22 this year the suspects went to Grandeur Plot 35 Venice, Battlefields in Kadoma, and drove away 15 head of cattle from the pas- tures.
Mrs Chaminuka said Simon and Dumisani took 12 of the 15 cattle to Nduna Abattoir in Chegutu.

The court heard that the abattoir’s manager, Mr Jealous Gwasela, became suspicious after realising that the duo had no clearance for the cattle and called the police and the owner, leading to their arrest and recovery of the 12 beasts.
The court also heard that Simon had previously appeared aat the Kadoma Magistrates’ Courts on stocktheft charges.
