TWO soldiers have appeared before a Mutare magistrate charged with stealing scrap metal at the Zimbabwe National Army Mutare School of Logistics.

Farai Chada (30) and Antony Mashaira (43) appeared before magistrate Ms Purity Gumbo yesterday facing theft charges.

The pair allegedly sold the scrap metal to a dealer in Sakubva.

The prosecutor Mr Chris Munyuku is alleging that on June 23 this year, Chada and Mashaira connived to steal four truck rims.

The transaction was recorded by the dealer in a register, citing Mashaira as the seller.

The ZNA conducted a stock take at its school and discovered the rims were missing.

Chada and Mashaira were arrested following investigations.

They were granted $200 bail each and remanded to Monday next week for trial, and advised against interfering with witnesses.
