FORMER ZIFA national teams General Manager Wellington Mpandare has no hard feelings about leaving the football scene after falling victim to the restructuring that is currently taking place at the national association.
Mpandare had worked with the Warriors as team manager since 2015 before his appointment to the position of National Teams General Manager in 2020.
Together with Chief Operations Officer Xolisani Gwesela and Technical Director Wilson Mutekede, Mpandare was booted out in the restructuring of the ZIFA secretariat being conducted by the Normalisation Committee, led by Lincoln Mutasa.
“It has been a great and fulfilling experience to serve the nation as the General Manager of National Teams, however, my time has come to an end,” said Mpandare.
“I am grateful for the experience and the opportunity that has contributed immensely to my personal development and my career growth.
“I am happy to say that I am thankful to the Almighty for the favour he placed upon me to work and serve in a field I am passionate about.
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all those who supported me in my journey and the time has come for me to take my leave,” said Mpandare.
ZIFA announced this week the “mutual termination of employment contracts” after a sustained period of negotiations with the trio of Mpandare, Gwesela and Mutekede.
“Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) wishes to inform all its valued stakeholders and the public that the Association has mutually agreed to part ways with the following employees:
1. Mr Xolisani Gwesela (Acting Secretary General)
2. Mr Wellington Mpandare (General Manager-National Teams)
3. Mr Wilson Mutekede (Technical Director)
“The Association would like to thank them for their dedication and commitment throughout the years. We wish them the best in their future endeavours,” said a statement from ZIFA.
The association has since flighted advertisements for the now vacant posts.
