President Mnangagwa will next week preside over the official launch of Zimbabwe’s participation at Expo 2025 Osaka, an international business exhibition organised by the Bureau International des Expositions.
The next expo to be held in Japan follows the previous edition held in Dubai where Zimbabwe was also among the participating countries.
Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere revealed this yesterday saying Cabinet had received an update on the preparations for the Expo 2025 to be held from April 13 to October 13 next year.
“Preparations for the expo are on course, with the construction of pavilions and the handover of space to countries expected to be completed by the end of September, 2024,” said Dr Muswere.
“Internal works will commence in October 2024 and are expected to be completed by January 2025.
“The official launch of Zimbabwe’s Participation at Expo 2025 Osaka will be held on October 10, 2024 and will be presided over by His Excellency the President, Cde Dr E.D Mnangagwa at State House,” said Dr Muswere.
The official launch of the programme was expected to intensify awareness and raise private sector funding for Zimbabwe’s preparation for the global event.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ambassador Frederick Shava said Zimbabwe will use the Osaka 2025 as an opportunity to market the country as a safe investment destination.
“This is a very important event which will run for about seven months and countries will be exhibiting what they are able to produce in their countries and marketing the same,” said Ambassador Shava.
“In our case, ZimTrade will be leading, and they will be working together with those who may want to showcase their wares to the world.”
The theme for the expo is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, with sub-themes of “Saving Lives”, “Empowering Lives” and “Connecting Lives”.
The theme “Saving Lives” includes infant vaccinations, sanitation, lifestyle (diet and exercise) and extending lifespans.
