Doctor Patience Mba’s day-to-day routine is robotic. It is programmed in such a way that she almost has no time for leisure.

Like any other wife and mother, from the time she wakes up preparing for her husband who is a neurosurgeon, dropping kids to school then doing patient visits in hospitals and consultations, it is ever hectic for her, there is no time for leisure.

Patience is one of the country’s oncologists, a demanding profession of treating cancer patients. A few months after opening a cancer clinic in Eastlea, she decided to spare Saturday 8 December and invited other female health professionals for a day of sharing business and beauty tips in a relaxed environment.

It was a brilliant idea that refreshed the health professionals who only bump into each other in hospital corridors or wards and rarely attend social gatherings.

“Before our carriers we are women and we need time to relax and set aside our tools, so I felt that I should organise such an event where we share business ideas while enjoying food and pampering from beauty technicians,” she said.

During their tip sharing time, the more than fifty health professionals swapped turns to have body treatments complimented with manicures and pedicures done by Spiwe Kampira and make-up by young boss girl Lassie.

At this relaxing event, the doctors shared some health and wellness tips with cancer survivors Dr Nancy Jonker and Judy Madondo sharing their success stories.

Judy also shared her experience of what happens across the table between herself and the doctors whether they are general practitioners or specialists. She was advocating on behalf of cancer patients who view the disease as a death sentence due to lack of adequate survival advice and information.

Besides some emotional and sensitive issues, the ladies got to meet their superior Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care Dr JC Mangwiro who saluted them for their sterling work.

They had time to learn about balancing family and careers from Cynthia Hakutangwi and business etiquette and tutorials from Uzillah Hove and Busi Marandure.

After all that fun, the women had a time of networking while enjoying delicacies and photo shoots, a rare lifestyle that they are willing to adopt and add to their demanding lifestyles.
