Nyong’o face to face with ‘racism’

Cool Reloaded with Swagga T
Hello weekend!

Weekends are somewhat like rainbows; they look great from a distance but disappear when you get up close.

Well, Advanced Level results are out and some have already started collecting their results.

We are happy to say that many have obtained flying colours but we await for them to come with the proof before we celebrate with them.

For those in search of university places make sure you pick the right programme as that is where you future begins.

In our feedback section last week, some students asked us if it is cool to carry a lunch-box to school especially for a boy.

The answer is easy — carrying a lunch-box to school is not only coolest but the best way to make sure that you always have great tasting food that is healthy.

Jaden and Willow Smith carry lunch-boxes so why not yourself.

Still on those international celebrities, role model to many Kenyan beauty Lupita Nyong’o is disappointed by the Oscar nominations. Too bad, welcome to the racist world.

The “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” actress has taken to Instagram to voice her opinions, insisting she is standing with her “peers who are calling for change.”

She wrote: “I am disappointed by the lack of inclusion in this year’s Academy Awards nominations. It has me thinking about unconscious prejudice and what merits prestige in our culture.

“The Awards should not dictate the terms of art in our modern society, but rather be a diverse reflection of the best of what our art has to offer today. I stand with my peers who are calling for change in expanding the stories that are told and recognition of the people who tell them.”

Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith have already revealed they will be boycotting the Academy Awards, which take place next month, over the nomination list.

On to fashion news, yes it comes and goes and with the first term heating up, try and catch up with the latest trends only after working on your books.

The white outfit has been overdone. We’re talking of the ripped jeans, Bermuda T-shirts and collar button up shirts which you almost see every boy wearing especially during weekends with girls following suit with the tights. Come on, that was 2015, move over to 2016.

I liked how the new ice-cream invention is causing a stir on social media, thanks to scientists.

Ice cream is amazing during hot summer afternoons that is a fact.

Problem is, you will also need to eat it amazingly fast, lest you will be forced to watch your sweet frozen treat turn into a milky slush!

But thanks to scientist, that could change soon with the discovery of a new protein called BsIA that makes ice cream more resistant to melting.

In a study conducted by a joint team from the Dundee and Edinburgh universities, researchers have discovered a naturally-occurring protein that will allow it to better withstand warm temperatures!

As such, it can melt at a far slower pace than ice cream normally does, ensuring you can enjoy every lick, nibble, or spoonful you plan to partake in.

When added to ice cream, BsIA binds together the air, fat, and water in ice cream (it adheres to the fat droplets and air bubbles), making them more stable in a mixture.

This maybe non of our business but this enables the ice cream’s slow-melting quality, all while giving it an even smoother consistency.

Aside from the obvious benefits of melt-resistant rocky road (longer eating times, lower power requirements during storage), the protein can also help prevent the formation of ice crystals, giving ice cream a smoother, finer texture.

So, yay, we can finally enjoy our slow-melting ice cream come 2020 and can’t wait to see this in Zimbabwe.

Enough of that, on to the big screen, new movies continue to be released.

There’s already plenty of hype in 2016 for every class of movie fan.

I was even surprised to receive the news that there is going to be “Die Hard 6” in months to come. Looking forward to it? I am.
