PREMIER Netball League log leaders Ngezi Platinum Queens are looking forward to another fruitful outing today as they face four teams in the last bubble of the first half of the season in Bulawayo.

The matches are set to take place at White City with three courts available to cater for the 20 teams.

Ngezi Platinum Queens are up against Stormers, Mvurwi, Harare City and ZDF. Ngezi coach Tapiwa Chirenda said conceded they are up against tough opponents in ZDF and Harare City.

“We are expecting to collect maximum points but in comparison back to back for the past few years ZDF is the stronger team and are in fine form so it will be touch and go. City has also amped-up, so it’s going to be a tough day in office considering I am forced to be trying out new combinations on the fly,” said Chirenda.

Ngezi have 28 points from 15 games.

Defending champions Platinum Queens who have 26 points from 14 games, same as GreenFuel, occupy the second place courtesy of a superior goal difference.

ZDF are fourth with 24 points from 14 matches. Platinum Queens are set to take on Expendable, Filchrist ZJC, City Angels and Harare City and will also be out for maximum points. They stand a chance to take over the top spot today in the event that they win all their matches while Ngezi lose or draw any of their encounters.

Platinum Queens coach Simbarashe Mlambo said they are determined to maintain their fine form from their last games.

“I think the girls are ready to go. We are very determined and as a club we see ourselves obviously trying to maintain that good run and maybe second on the log because we have fewer games, and I am not sure what’s going to happen tomorrow,” said Mlambo.

The league will take a break and resume on July 8 for the second half of the season.

However, PNL secretary-general Liberty Mhizha said teams with outstanding games are expected to meet in Harare on June 17 to fulfil the games.
