Ngezi Platinum coach Ndiraya bullish

LIVING ON BORROWED TIME . . . Tonderayi Ndiraya is reported to have divided the Dynamos executive and could find himself jobless before the season ends

NGEZI Platinum Stars coach Tonderayi Ndiraya says his team has done wonders to win 17 league matches so far this season. This was the same number of victories all season for them last year. The Mhondoro side have secured 17 wins with nine more rounds of matches to play in this year’s Castle Lager Premiership race.

And the coach believes this clearly shows they have done more this season and the future could be bright for them.

He wants his men to go for the league title this year.

They trail leaders FC Platinum by four points ahead of their battle against tricky ZPC Kariba at Baobab today.

“So far we have equalled the number of wins we got in the entire season last year,’’ said Ndiraya.

“We had 17 wins, but now we already have 17 wins with nine games to go.

“So, it is definitely an improvement and we hope it will lead us to winning the championship.

“It is still a tight race and anything can happen.’’

The former Dynamos gaffer expects a tough battle today.

“It is not an easy match. All the games we have played against them have been closely fought, although we emerged the winners in all of them.

“So, we are expecting a very tough match.

“But we are ready. I am just afraid that after the Highlanders win, they may take ZPC Kariba lightly, that is what I have been preparing them to be mentally prepared.

“We should play it as a Cup final. That is the approach we should take in all our remaining matches.

“We have hit the consistency that we have been looking for in the second half of the season, but we want to see more.

“When we thought we had hit the right chords, we lost to Mutare City, we got seven scoring chances in that game and they got one and utilised it.

“But I am glad that in the Highlanders match we saw a different team. A team which is really determined to win the league and I hope that will continue.’’
