The new substantive chief executive of Zimbabwe Broadcasting Coorporation is Ms Adelaide Chikunguru, who took over the post yesterday.

Ms Chikunguru’s appointment was announced by ZBC board chairperson Dr Josaya Tayi at the Pockets Hill headquarters in Harare. Ms Chikunguru, who was the group corporate communications executive at Tongaat Hulett, promised to steer the national broadcaster to greater heights.

She is a holder of a Bachelor of Science Honours degree with a Masters in Media and Society Studies. Ms Chikunguru takes over from Ms Helliate Rushwaya, who has been acting for the past 13 months. Dr Tayi thanked Ms Rushwaya for holding fort at a time Zimbabwe and the rest of the world were fighting the Covid-19 pandemic and her commitment towards resource management for the corporation and addressing staff welfare issues.

ZBC has been without a substantive CEO since the departure of Mr Patrick Mavhura in 2019. The broadcaster appointed Mr Wisdom Hombarume as acting CEO, but did not extend his tenure when it ended after six months. – ZBC/Herald Reporter
