AS the Zimbabwe Netball Association Super League begins today, with matches scheduled for various venues across the country, title holders Correctional Services Queens have set their eyes on defending their crown.

They were crowned champions last season ahead of Harare City Queens in a close contest in which the top two teams were separated by just two points.

The defending champions will, however, have to wait a bit longer before they can get their campaign underway after their opening match for the season against Falcon Queens was postponed.

Correctional Services team manager Tracey Chimanzi said they were not concerned by the delay in their start to the campaign.

“We are looking forward to retaining the trophy, that’s our wish. We retained all our players because we have faith in the team.

“We were preparing for the season and if we can take the trophy this year and in 2019 then it’s ours for keeps,” said Chimanzi.

This year the league is expected to feature 22 clubs after the national association increased the number from last year’s 18.

In some of matches slated for today Black Rhinos Queens host Mambas at Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks while newly-promoted Destiny from Mutare will clash with Mutare City in what promises to be an exciting game.

Beta Holdings have a date against Ngezi Platinum at Cornway College and Flow Angels takes on ZRP Harare at Glenview 1 Community Centre.
