fired after just eight games into the season.
Former Monomotapa and Mwana Africa coach Tutani, who has now joined the army, is now the head coach and his immediate task is to get Rhinos back to winning ways.

The army side is anchoring the log table with a paltry six points with a single 3-2 win against Monomotapa in their opening match and three draws. On Sunday, they lost 2-1 to visiting How Mine at Gwanzura, and it was the final straw for the gaffer and Saruchera, who has been relieved of his duties at the club more times than he can remember, had to go.

Yesterday, the club said the coach has been promoted and will be the director of coaching for all the soccer teams in the army and scouting talent for Rhinos.

Rhinos’ secretary-general, Amos Svovanepasi, said they were not panicking and the restructuring of the club had nothing to do with the poor results.
“We have elevated Saruchera to the post of director of coaching and Tutani is now the acting head coach assisted by Ndega Matsika (goalkeepers’ coach) and another assistant coach would be assigned.

“In the army, there are always changes and we have a number of feeder clubs such as Tongogara and Artillery and Saruchera would be overseeing and identifying talent and would also be supervising Black Rhinos as well so it is a promotion,” he said. He said the club, which returned into the top-flight league this year, has started well and is on course to survive relegation.

“It is too early to panic and as soldiers we don’t panic. This has got nothing to do with results. Our team is playing well and l think we are playing better than most of the teams even though we are not getting favorable results.

“Most of our players are youngsters without Premiership experience and the goals are just not coming. “But l believe we will survive relegation and with the players we are grooming the sky is the limit. Our aim is still to finish in the top eight,” said Svovanepasi.

The team still has veterans such as goalkeeper Britto Gwere, striker Lazarus Muhoni and Brighton Chandisaita. They have also recruited young players from Division One clubs such as Marshal Mudewe, Wilson Chakanyuka and Jameson Mukombwe.
