The minors died from head and body injuries sustained after the family Toyota Regius rammed into a Mazda B1800 that proceeded without giving way at the Empress turn off in Kwekwe.

Chegutu East legislator Cde Webster Shamu said it was with deep sorrow that he received the news of the death of the siblings.
He said death was destructive and that the accident that claimed the two came at a time the province was still trying to come to grips with the deaths of Mbuya Kurasha, who died two weeks ago, and prominent businessman Tobias Musariri, who died last week.

“The two children had a painful end to their lives when their parents were working hard to have the best out of them. The future lies in the life children lead and parents work hard to have the best out of them,” he said.
“God had a purpose in what happened and we will accept that and take it as a challenge we encounter in life that needs bravery and prayers.”

Attorney-General Mr Johannes Tomana, a family friend, expressed sadness at the death of the two siblings.
“The parents were working very hard for the children to have a brighter future. It is difficult to accept the situation especially when the father is a hard worker. The father was striving for the best out of their children and it is unfortunate it happened before he fulfilled his wishes.”

Assistant Commissioner Bobby Murwira blamed the accident on negligence.
He said such an accident could have been avoided if drivers had taken extreme caution on the roads.

The vehicle rolled several times before landing next to the road.
